Sprockets Again

I did a search but didn't find my exact question answered so I hope you guys don't mind another sprocket thread.

I have a BRAND new Hyper Evo SP with just under 400 miles.

I find myself never really able to break out of second gear and into third without doing double the speed limit around town- as well as needing to slip the clutch up my lane and in parking lots. Even at highway speeds, I have RPM to spare in 6th. I definitely want to change the final drive ratio.

Keep in mind, the stock final drive for the SP is 15-41.

Not crazy about buying a new chain when the stock one is still new so 520 is not on the list as of now. I was thinking the cheapest way would be to get a 14t front. Is that the best way to go about this? From the posts I read, most people are going from a 42 to a 44-45 in the rear, but that would require me to buy a new (longer) chain. Maybe I'll do that when it's time to replace the current chain?

I poked around GearingCommander already but the SP information is not loaded so I played with the standard info.

Thanks in advanced,
LowSider.

Anyone have any input, even coming from a non SP owners?

Would also like some advice as to which brand sprocket to go with as well.

Thanks.

We might have the sprocket you want
Does the new HM use the same front sprocket as the 1100S?
If so we have front sprockets for $30 retail
less our Ducati.ms discount plus shipping

I'm wondering why Ducati changed from the 08-09 Hypers 15/42 to the Evo's 15/41? same internal gears. Aloha Alex

I don't know why for sure. I would think it is either for a lower RPM for emissions or to make it slightly less easy to rip power wheelies.

Despite all the power, the final drive is still way too tall.

I need to confirm that the chain is 525 and is the same sprockets as the previous models.

The stock chain for the 1100 is a 525, rear sprocket other than the teeth count is the same, not sure about the front sprocket on the Evo, but I'd guess it the same. Aloha Alex
