Does your hyper cry?
I made a little road trip with some friends just outside of philly to see Jason Britton. I think I might be on the speed channel. I got recorded pulling away on the hyper. Ok, now back to my question, I got there and I noticed a little bit of oil coming out of the engine case. That is the first time I noticed that on my bike. I had the hyper now for 2 years with 10K miles on it. I torqued the bolts a little more and wiped the oil off. We drove back from philly and there was more oil coming out. Do you guys know the cause? bad gasket maybe?

The the rpm/timing sensor that is on top of the case leaks a little on mine and my left side case looks about the same after a ride. It just has a o-ring on it, and tends to weep. Be careful just tightening bolts...not everything has oil on the other side. If you do want to tighten things as you should use a torque wrench and proper torque spec. when oil is spotted follow the trail UP to the culprit. Also, no real "gaskets" on the DS1100, just o-rings and sealant.
*if you know this then good, not all people do...just don't want you to open a can of worms stripping a bolt into the case. then asking how to use a helicoil.

Mine does. A little at the front cylinder cam and valve covers and a little less from the left side case cover. It's not much more than a film to be wiped off after a ride. My question would be how much do you chalk it up to owning a Ducati and how much does it take to warrant warranty work?

My 09 S had a leak on the underside of the clutch-side casing, it wasn't a matter of the bolts being down to spec, but the seal was bad. It was fixed under warranty.

mone started leaking in the area that yours is leaking after I removed the charcoal canister. The mounting bolts of the canister weren't tight. I don't know if you tried those on yours?

thank you guys for the input, really helpful. I'm taking it to the dealer. I'm lucky my warranty expires at the end of this month.
