Where are the lighter rotors?
Sorry guys, I've searched and searched, but I can't seem to find any posts on lighter rotors.
Does anyone know who makes a lighter rotor for our bikes and how much they weigh? This is not for track use, obviously.
Easily available in the US, please.

Braketech with the CMC rotor is what I think is the lightest AND streetable.
They are 310mm, so you will need a 5mm spacer on your calipers.
They also cost 2350$, so you will need a big wallet.

But they look sick (here on the Hattar NCR Leggera :
note : I've red somewhere on Ducati.ms (dont remember who wrote that or where - maybe motowheels) that the availibility is not great, cause a new design coming soon.

I am running the CMC rotors on my 1098 - have done about 7,000 kms with them now, and I love them. They work instantly, consistently, wet or dry, road or track. Worth the premium price for a premium product.
The weight saving (all-up) is 1.4 kgs (over 3 lbs) on the 1098, and is noticeable the first bump you ride over. The bigger advantage is in weight, rather than sheer braking power, which allows you to brake later, easier, particularly over a rough surface.
The weight saving is almost the same as going to a carbon rim from an S forged rim, but of course the weight loss is not out at the perimeter like the carbon rim.

Thanks for the great feedback Pat! (And hello again.)
Would you say these have a good initial bite? What pads are you running? The Fireblade spoiled me and I'm finding even the S-version brakes on this bike lacking. Before I go trying different pads, I thought why not look for lighter rotors as well.

The brakes on your Hyper S are lacking? You can get a big improvement in feel with a Brembo RCS master cylinder. If you are interested in weight reduction, you could go with a single 320mm rotor and monobloc caliper. This was the original design spec for the HM until Ducati changed it to meet consumer preference.

Ah ha! Thanks a bunch Duke! I did not know that about the original design spec.
I was thinking that converting to a single 320mm cmc rotor would totally kick butt and save buckets of weight. Also, just having to buy one rotor would sure be a lot less expensive.

Well, I just had a very informative chat with the folks over at Braketech. Very knowledgable.
It seems the Hyper uses the same 5 hole spacing as the 320mm disks found on the 1098, etc, but uses a 10mm offset instead of their 15mm, so a straight swap isn't doable. I asked about swapping the carriers and they advised it's not recommended since they prefer to keep tolerances tight.
CMC availability on the mildly oversized 310mm kits is not expected until late this year or early next.

I have a set of CMC's enroute. Was thinking of doing the single conversion. Anyone know where to get a fork lower without the caliper bracket? What else is needed? A different MC I suspect.
