Does it hurt to ride with the check engine light on?

I just installed the boomtubes on my hyper and I dont have the DP ecu yet (will be here later this week) so since I have removed the flapper servo and the O2 sensor I have a check enging light. I want planning on riding until I got the new ecu in but now I board and need to get out of the house?
I have a PC3 and a fatduc on the bike so Im not worried about running lean or anything but I didnt know if the cpu affected timing curve or anything like that.
any thoughts?

Which code are you getting? I assume the flapper valve error code?

The flapper/O2 light will mask any other "fail" that may happen.

you should be fine kingsnake as long as you have the fat duc you will be able to tell if your running to lean.as for the engine light even when i had the dp cams ecu installed with pc my engine light still comes on and off a few times a day when riding when i had it dynoed and tuned it said it was temp code...but my tuner said it was no big deal cause the temp was perfect.but the ecu is supossed to eliminate flapper and you should be fine when you install it..i think mine has a glitch and i bought it second hand.

cool thanks... The light came on as soon as I unplugged the flapper servo... Im sure the O2 being gone is throwing a code too. Just wanted to be sure that it didnt affect time or anything enough to damage stuff

How could you connect a FatDuc with no oxygen sensor?

This bike should not run well with a standard ECU and no oxygen sensor-- the
O2 reading will always be railed to one side. This apples to part throttle
operation or running at RPMs less than about 4500, in which case the stock
ECU is in closed-loop mode and relies on the feedback from the oxygen
sensor to self-adjust the air/fuel ratio. With no Lambda sensor, the ECU
will detect NO oxygen and have no feedback on adjusting fuel injection
pulse duration for the target A/FR. I'm betting it will run like a dog, although
the Check Engine errors may initiate a fail-safe mode and arbitrarily set
fueling to some (half-way) usable midpoint, but I don't know if this ECU has
the "limp-home" capability or not.

Keep in mind that the FatDuc device connects between the Oxygen Sensor and the ECU...
it does not _replace_ the O2 sensor, it merely manipulates the voltage out of it.
