Anyone Use GP Shift?
Hi everyone, I'm new to Hypermotards/Ducatis/Twins and am loving my bike (2010 EVO) so far! I was wondering if anyone has tried flipping the stock shift rod to GP shift (one up, five down)? My race bike is GP shift and it is really hard for me to switch back and forth between regular and GP shift patterns. I tried switching the shift linkage myself but there is some clearance issues, just wondering if anyone has been able to do it yet? Thanks!

Okay, since my bike is sitting behind me...
I don't think it's possible with the stock set up. The angles are too severe and the linkage is too short. One of the advantages of rearsets is that they give enough room to allow for the longer linkage which is more accommodating to GP shift. I know my Woodcrafts can do both.

Yep, what sakurama said...
Aftermarket rearsets are your only real option for GP shift...

I explored this idea as well back in 08 when I bought my Hyper. I have since switched my track bike back to standard shift. banging a shift mid corner is more difficult, but you can get your downshifts in a bit easier while late braking. It isn't worth $650 for me to switch the hyper around. Once I biff, I might go aftermarket if my rearsets are damaged.

I had my R6 racebike switched to GP Shift, then I switched my streetbikes to that as well (crotchrockets), but I had my YZ450F in the standard pattern.
I switched to GP Shift originally because I found that my ankle was a bit lazy and was costing me some solid upshifts, and some races so GP Shift seemed to be the answer. It was.
The dirtbike issues was something else. I just convinced myself that while riding in the dirtbike "upright" position that I had to shift conventionally and while in the crotchrocket position, I had to shift GP-like.
It worked and I was able to ride the respective bikes the way they were set up with very few confusion issues.
Since my streetbike is now the Hyper and its seating position is of the "upright" nature, I will keep the shifting conventional so as not to confuse my already twisted logic when I ride the YZ.
