Can't tell from your post if you can't find the reset function in the VDST software or if it is simply not working for you. If the former:

1) Select "Active Settings" (the blue screwdriver thingy).

2) First tab in Active Settings is "Erase" and shows "Clear DTC" and "Maintenance Light" options. Select "Maintenance Light", say "Yes" to continue, and erase (reset) wrench.

Hope this works for you!
Ride Safe.

Don't know if this helps but from what I have read VDST software does not work on the 2010. Not sure what year you own but I thought it was worth mentioning.

You should get some sort of message saying connecting with ecm!
Then go about clearing the spanner.
The first time I did it it took a few goes.

Your right on. My dealer couldn't even remove the wrench. He said the same thing yesterday that until the new software comes out I just have to live with the wrench being on the dash. Doesn't bother me, but you would think if you are selling something you would have the tools already there to service it.
