Need some electrical signal advice

I'm having trouble getting my replacement front signals to work. I've ready through every 'LED' and 'Signal' thread I could find and clearly the Ducati has a little different configuration for the electrical/signal configuration.

I picked up a set of these before I realized that there would be issues. (I like the look of the clear lense with a single bulb better than the multiple LED bulbs.) I tried installing them - I get a solid light on when I turn the right blinker on and both solid on when I turn the left blinker on. (they're just a bulb, not LED)

From what I've read, is this because I need a resistor of some sort? (I'm not at all electrical savvy).

I've also tried the mode switch on the gauges between bulb and LED. LED yeilds nothing....Bulb gives me the solid on.

I've tried it with the rear stock signal both installed and uninstalled.

Are there specific signals that have the appropriate resistor built in that will work? (I'm mounting them to the side of the nose fairing similar to others on opposite sides of the headlight)

Any suggestions as to why I'm getting what I am, and where I might look, and what to look for would be greatly appreciated. Most replacement signals don't indicate that a 'resistor' is included from what I've seen.

You need to install some resistors. Find the how2 here:

You only need resistors when going from bulb to LED
Stock front blinkers are LED
Could be new bulbs draw too much current

Mr. Mike, I was thinking the same thing!

Vdue, I appreciate the link. I had read that previously, but the diagram is still a bit beyond my electrical capability. The signals I picked up don't have any markings or indication of what watt they are, so I'm unsure where to begin when looking for a resistor, if that's the solution for a non-LED bulb. Maybe LED is required up front.

I think I'll try these bulbs on the rear signals and see if I get the same result.

Johno51,
regardless of bulb or LED if you do not match 3.1W for the front or 10W for the rear indicators you will have trouble with the dashboard black box.

You could measure how much your new indicators consume. Connect the indicator direct to the battery and measure the current (Ampere). Then calculate P=UxI -> Watt (P) = 12V (U) x I (A).

You can go to any garage, they should have an ampere meter and could assist how to measure the current.

If the result is more than 3.1W, then instructions from above do not work for the front.

BTW - LED or bulp settings have no impact, do not waste your time to fiddle around with it.

Vdue Thats good info 3.1w front and 10w rear.
That mean approx .250 amps front and .833 amps rear
I use two 10w resistors on the rear with LED signals
No resistor needed for the front with same LEDs

I do however think you would be hard pressed to find a BULB that only draws
.250 (1/4) amps , so bulbs are not an option for the front.
Size DOES matter
