Warranty Question
I just bought an 08 Hyper S.
Got it with 650 miles on it...first service just completed.
The Factory warranty just expired. I have the option to buy a three year Ducati extended warranty for $1200. Should I do it? The bike is mint, BUT I don't kno0w Ducati's that well.
What would you do in my place?
Any feedback would be awesome.

Warranty
My '09 after only 300 miles had a leak in the seal of the magnesium oil casing... the stealership had it fixed in a day all under warranty except for the price of viscous glow-green Motul
Moral of the Story, this isn't a cel phone or something insignificant. If you have the Money, insure it. If not, carry on smartly. It's a Hooligan's bike anyway. But most of all, stay classy.

Yes
But
Shop around at different dealers and see who is the lowest.
Some dealers will offer the EverRed which is the Ducati Extended and some will have the western Insurance which is usually cheaper and can go up to 4 years.
Some dealers offer both
My 06 Paul Smart is good til 2012 through Western and So far they have covered everything.
Which ever you choose I highly recommend extended warranty if you can afford it.

Extended Warranties
Keep in mind that these service contracts are very, very profitable so you're betting $1,200 with bad odds. At least read this so you can know what you're buying.

I have to disagree
But, I think $1200 is a bit expensive so I think he should shop around.
I got mine from Western for $600 in 06 and I believe they are now at around $800 from western. This is for a bumper to bumper or Fender to fender coverage
Perhaps it is bad odds or a gamble for some who do not put too many miles on the bike but my "extended warranty" which is not a service plan, has paid for it's self.
Valve Guide warranty
Regulator warranty
Pully Oil leak warranty
Clutch oil seal warranty
to name a few things that has been covered.
The Valve Guide is over $1200 if done out of warranty.
So
If you can afford it I'd say go for it
But
I do agree that $1200 is a bit rich

Husky was offering extended warranties on their bikes, but the conditions were so strict that they either made money in the over sevicing and parts replacement conditions, or the fact that they could dishonour the contract because you failed to do so.
