Yup, and they have this note added to the torque spec "critical point for dynamic safety. Tightening torque tolerance must be: ± 5% Nm".

So who's the scaremonger?

When I adjust my chain tension I loosen the pinch bolts, get my slack within spec', and do the bolts up with a 1/2" drive so they're tight.

Torque settings for chain tension? WTF?

So tell me chaps, what are the consequences of not abiding by the regulation degree of allowable + or - torque settings when adjusting the damn chain and nipping up the hub bolts?

I think it counts for a big fat f*ck all, my bike runs great...

Or, , , you could tighten it up until it strips out and back off 1/4 turn
