Weight Reduction
Well I've removed the flapper valve motor and assembly, cat was replaced with a Termi pipe. I removed the passenger pegs and stock exhaust system, I just ordered an aluminum subframe. I've pretty much done what I can to lighten the bike. Well now the Hyper has kicked-in with a weight reduction program of its own, shedding nuts and bolts, one at a time, from various locations. Despite my diligence, inspecting and tightening all the bolts and nuts I can reach I still find open holes, void of the factory installed hardware.
Anyone have a good source of "factory" quality bolts. Currently I need belt cover bolts.

You have more weight to lose with a Nichols 9 oz flywheel vs 4 lbs stocker and a Speedcell SBK battery for almost an 8 lbs saving. So 11 lbs for roughly $500.
Also on my KX500 I dip my bolts in RTV silicone and the bolts stopped shedding a long time ago. And a two stroke 500 has way more vibration then the Duc. The RTV dampens vibration and has minimal impact on fastener torque.

you can also go lightech or pro bolt they both also have titanium and alloy as well in various colors...so you can add color and lose weight at the same time.

Not to mention that the minimized weight of the new flywheel will make the bike feel even lighter than it is.

After you get the battery and flywheel you should buy a titanium frame from NCR. You'd be the man

Your local Ace Hardware store will have more bolts, nuts, and such than most places. They have all sorts of stainless allen head bolts to fix up the holes in your Duc and make it look good too.
Out!
