DDA won't work??
I recently purchased a DDA ( Ducati Data Analyzer ) from Chouch - thanks Jean - but I am having problems.
I plugged it into the USB after loading the latest software, and it keep coming up with the following error message
"Device was unexpectedly disconnected or a communication error occured,
Reconnect the device and retry the operation"
I have tried everything suggested on the DDA website, but have a feeling that it may be the fact that I am running Windows 7 as there is no mention of it on there
When I plug the DDA into the bike ( 09 Hypermotard ) what exactly is suppose to happen? Should anything new come up on the dash etc ?? How do I know it is recording any data etc ?
Any help would be most appreciated, as it's frustrating looking at it sitting here in the box after it's long trip from Canada to Australia

i played with the DDA when i first got my hypertard ... but that was 2 years ago, and i can't remember what i did yesterday, so remembering 2 years ago is NOT going to happen.
seriously, when you plug the DDA into the port under the hypertards seat, nothing will happen. you can use the mode switch on the left handlebar switch set, and by moving the switch upwards, and you will toggle into either the memory or the lap timer menu. from there, you can turn the memory or lap timer function on, and the DDA will start recording/storing data, such as lap times, engine temp, RPM, etc... i believe the DDA might also collect data even when the lap timer function is not used ... but can't remember.
once you are through with your ride/track session, you can download the data by removing the DDA from the bike, and plugging it into your laptop.
i have no idea what system sw the DDA requires/is supported on the windblows platform ... you will need to rtfm for that. all the DDA is, is a very expensive flash drive, that collects the data your bike generates ... you can then analyze it using the DDA sw on your laptop.
there is also online support/sw updates and faq sections @ http://dda.prosa.com/

Hey there, glad to see that the box arrived in Australia.
Regarding the DDA, I used it only once, when the dealer gave it to me.
He plugged it on my bike, turn the LAP function on, and I was off recording data on the DDA
Back then I used my computer at work, which was running XP at the time.
It could very well be an OS issue as the DDA software was made to be used first on win 2000 and XP. Since then Vista, Vista 64 and 7 were released, and lot of soft running on XP need to be patched to work on Vista.
On the DDA help website, one of the solution is a DDA firmware update, but it would requiere you to find a computer with XP (or at least a comp with an OS than recognize the DDA properly)
Keep me inform on your progress.

You might be able to run the data capture software in XP Compatibility Mode under Windows 7. I'm running a few programs on my PC that wouldn't work under 7 unless I specified compatibility mode, and they seem to work fine.
Might be worth a shot if you don't want to fart with the old PC....

The problem isnt really the software it seems. The DDA software runs, but the wont recognise the DDA when its plugged into the USB port It comes up with an error saying device was unexpectedly disconnected ...

Hi guys
I got a Streetfighter S and from day 1 i plugged the DDA into the bike.
I now would like to see its data and after installing everything properly on the PC, the DDA Downloader says that the device hasn't got any deta registered and is empty.
One i plug it into the bike do i need to activate it from somewhere?

You need to start it.
While riding, you can change from speedo to rpm to whatever mode, and at some point, LAP mode.
The default setting for that mode is OFF, you have to turned it ON and it will start recording.
That is for the Hyper, dont know how it works on the SF, but i'm sure it's very similar.
