Zard Collectors Heat shield Question

I have a Termi 2-2 slip on and was thinking of adding the Zard Collectors to eliminate the cat and flapper and reduce weight. I am not a big fan of the Zard heat shield. Can you remove the heat shield? It looks like the shield is held on with two screws. If it is removed are there two studs where the screws fasten? Pictures or links to photos would be appreciated.

Just installed Zard collectors to go along with my own Termi 2-2 and had the exact same questions. Yes, the heat shield removes easily with two small allen head bolts and welded studs remain on the pipe. Some have removed the welds and polished, others have fabbed their own heat shield. I personally just recently bought and received a CF shield another board member makes for the Zards (Brad Reynolds). Any other questions, let me know!

Yes, you can remove the mounting bolts if your real careful. I used a dremel to cut the welds and a small 2" disc sander to smooth it out. You can see a real sublte hint of where they were welded, but most people would never know.

Out!

I know that Leo Vince makes a nice universal carbon fiber exhaust heat shield that you could buy and mount it where the Zard shield was..
they come in short or long and attach with clamps. That is a pretty nice alternative to the ugly Zard unit. I think they list at $65
