CA cycleworks big tank Owners

Anything I should know about thia thing before I order it ? I did a search and found a lot of info but not enough to allow me to order it without speaking with someone who owns and installed it themselves first.
Figment issuses?
Intake issues?
Weight ratio issues?
Will this throw off the balance of the whole bike now that I am adding a bigger tank?
Will it handle differently?
This bike is an all around 10 but the fuel distance is it's only fallback IMHO.

Thanks in advance .

I think if you are worried about the extra weight,,,Just don't fill her up all the way....
All the other concerns seem to be covered .Great fit .intake mods covered ...
There have been basically no complaints if that is your goal to get the longer range...

Figment??

I don't own one, so I know nothing about it, but I'm awake and bored so I thought I'd chime in.

I'm not sure what your ultimate goal for performance with your Hyper is, but this tank does limit that in some ways.

The tank comes with pod-type air filters which, although flowing more air than the airbox, seemingly haven't provided any real performance benefit or loss. The pods are noisier than the airbox, but I don't know to what extent. Personal preference makes the difference here. Just because you have 6.4 gallon capacity, doesn't mean you have to fill it every time either. You could throw 4 or 5 gallons in there for your spirited ride and not have to deal with the weight as long as that amount will cover your distance.

The alternative, or at least at this point, the hypothetical alternative, is to sign up for the mid-sized performance tank which will come out to around 4.5 gallon capacity and allow room for Stacks with filters. The stacks are louder too, but they have proven to increase performance dramatically. The downside is that the list does not have enough people on it for Chris at CACycleworks to justify the expense of producing the tank yet.

You can read up on more of it here: New mid-sized Hyper gas tank !!!

...and you can sign up for it here: https://www.ca-cycleworks.com/shop/c...k_preorder.php

You don't have to leave a deposit, just sign up and commit.

Do some reading and if it suits you, sign up and help the cause.

Thanks,
Dave

I had the tank fitted at my Ducati service store and their comments were : ouaou, great design & quality, perfect fit, not even a little problem

In the same time I fitted the Termi slip on & DP ecu package and with the combination of the pods (supplied with the tank) air/fuel ration was "poor" so I had to adjust (with the Mathesis at the Ducati service).

The only weight ratio I have noticed is when wheeling and the tank is full, bike feels a little heavy Not any problem in normal driving conditions and cornering the extra weight is unnoticeable

Feels great to see the fuel light on after 280+ km

That's great input ! How much did u pay to get it installed ?
Is adjusting Air fuel rotation with this mathesis a difficult thing ?

Awesome!
What are stacks exactly?
I'm not really WORRIED about performance cuz I'm happy with how the bike is now, i just simply wanna keep it as is but get more range out of my tank . This is my only bike and it's a daily driver . I've had 16 bikes and this is by far perfect in everyway except fuel range , compared to every other bike I've owned

These are the Ducshop ones: http://www.ducshop.com/product_view.php?cat=7&pid=321

But a company called TPO I believe makes some too.

Do a search on the feedback of these products, it's pretty impressive.

Just got the tank installed Friday at my dealer... in two short words..

IT ROCKS!

I filled it full Friday night. For the first 2-3 turns at slow speeds (20-25 mph) I could feel the weight difference, but after that it was not noticeable. $18 (5.5 gall) to fill the tank, that was wickedly cool fun!

The dealership installed the tank, sliders, windscreen, conducted the 600 mile service, and bumped the idle up a bit since it was too low. all that work took 5.5 hours including the service tech taking lunch in there somewhere. installation cost for the tank was just over $300. I paid for the tank at the time I bought the bike, and just scheduled to have it installed with the first service. The pod filters look really cool too. I have the Termi's 2in1 pipes with race ECU; no remap was required.

I put on roughly 400 miles this weekend and never noticed the additional weight, but I did notice I wasnt worried anymore about constantly finding a gas station!! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

If you are moderately handy you can install the tank yourself in a few hours. It fit near perfect, looks great, and holds 6.5 gallons-ish. I've gone as far as 260 miles on a tank. And like the other poster said, after 2-3 turns you can't feel the extra fuel anymore. Bike handles the same as before. Don't waste your time with the whole pod/stack thing, a few extra HP or the ability not to go to the station every other day?
