Lowering Link for the 796
Hey Hyper Forum!
I'm excited to be here...It's time for a new moto, I've been doing a lot research on what I will bless myself with next...there are only a few bikes that fill the niche I'm needing to fill. I'm moving up from a DRZ SM and am planning on purchasing a 796 but want to be sure of a couple things before I become part of the Hyper community.
-Does the 796 use the same seat as the 1100?(hoping that just modifying the seat will give me what I need)
-Does the 796 have the same capabilities as the 1100 to add the lowering link? Also, how much of a difference will this link make in the seat height?
I've sat on a stock height 1100 and can't touch. I've sat on a 1100 with the lowering link and can barely touch (almost to the balls of feet) So I think I will make a compromise and go for the 796.
Any feedback or general information/experience would be appreciated, there is not as much info available out there on 796 (or maybe I'm not looking in the right places??)
Thanks!
Becca

Hi Becca!
The 796 uses the same lowering link (96849608B) as the 1100.
BUT the 796 is already 2cm lower (different seat), the comfort seat (96782608B) which lowers a 1100 about 25 mm will only lower a 796 about 5mm.

Thanks for the helpful information, So does the link come on the bike like the S model 1100? Have you heard of anyone adding this link if it isn't stock, I'm curious about how much it will even affect the seat height. So is the stock seat on the 796 any more comfortable than the stock on the 1100? I've heard the DP racing seat is the way to go...
Again, I appreciate the helpful information...I will be speaking with the dealership and asking some questions, but my experience is that, amazingly, they don't always know their stuff when it comes to specific models.
Big Thanks,
Becca

I just put the dp racing seat on my bike and have only had a chance to sit on it not ride it but it felt a little lower, but a lot thinner, Im worrie about long rides felt kinda hard. If the seat doesnt lower it enough i was going to buy the adjuster bar also.

No, it does not come stock on the 796. No knowledge about how much it lowers, sorry.
And the 796 seat is lower/harder than the 1100 stock seat. Thats why the comfort seat only lowers a 796 by 5mm.
Iīm 175cm, and stock 796 height is ok, even if I donīt get both feets flat to the ground

I'm 5'6" and i can touch the balls of both feet on my stock 796. The seat is fairly comfy to me also. I did about 90 miles today and didn't feel any soreness.
