Sigma clutches
does anyone have any direct experience with Sigma slipper clutches? Everything I can find seems positive. Now that the dollar is gaining ground against the pound and euro, it's beginning to make sense to look across the ocean for good deals. You can get one shipped to the US for a about $850. Probably cheaper if I look around. http://www.sigmaperformance.com/slipperclutchrange.html
Just curious.

The one for the Hypermotard looks like the DP performance one, made by Bucci, which is a very good one. Go for it. Aloha Alex

If you want that style of slipper clutch get it from Yoyodyne in the US or one of their dealers. TSS used to make both Sigma and Yoyodyne - I assume they still do, but am not sure. Support from Yoyodyne will be FAR superior if you need it.
What are you going to be using it for - track, street, etc...? At +/- $850 that will not include plates, but it will have a 12T basket. Both a negative in my opinion.

IMHO, I like the slippers that use the 12t baskets, they work well, (at least DP & Bucci ones do) the clutch plates are carried by most Ducati dealers & Barnett, and are ase sooo much cheaper than the 48t counterparts. Aloha Alex

Availability is the biggest plus of the 12T plates as they are simply more common. The 48T plates and baskets last much longer and if you do significant mileage it is cheaper in the long run than replacing the 12T plates and basket more often.
Like anything it is a trade off that will depend on the circumstances of each rider.

I'm using the Barnett clutch basket with the stainless steel edge protectors, I now have aprox 6000mi on it, with no basket edge wear yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Aloha Alex

i had a sigma 48t slipper in my 749 for years. worked great. afaik it's the same design as the yoyodyne, stm and others. the 48t worked very well, but as mentioned replacement plates are harder to find.
