Zard Exhaust Question

I picked up a 2008 hyper S and the PO installed a ZarD topgun slipon... was wondering if this particular unit has removable baffles as its pretty quiet compared to a set of arrow cans i had on my multistrada.. thanks!!

I don't know off hand but do they look removable? Have you tried removing any fasteners near the end of the pipe?

I havent tried removing anything yet..though the end caps are riveted on...Im wondering if anyone else has tried anything??

zard top guns do have removable baffles there is a allen head screw in the bottom of the aluminum end cap on both sides.

Yep... they are very easily visible when installed as well so you should have no trouble telling if they are indeed installed.

Just looked....looks like theyre already out...i see a hole where a screw could of been...Also, while looking i saw exhaust flapper thing or what ever it is attached to the inside of the of the pipe and to the zard box......once i put in a DP ecu can i take all that stuff off? What exactly does this contraption do?

The exhaust valve is for noise emissions - it doesn't affect performance. If you have an ECU that disables it you can remove it and cap the plug on the harness.

I was going to plug in a 96518708B..i believe it the termi 2-1 ecu

Didn't some of them come without removable inserts? I recall asking this when I did my purchase when you were first gettting them out to people. For some reason, I thought mine were not removeable or the quiet cores could not be added. Probably the latter, as they have some bark.

They come 3 ways actually.

1. With non-removable db killers.
2. With removable db killers.
3. With no db killers.

All of the ZARD systems we import are ordered to have removable db killers...

I don't remember them ever making the Top Gun slip-ons without the option to add db killers - I could be remembering incorrectly though.
