Bigger rear tire for the hyper??
Hey guys any Hyper owners running 190/50/17 on the rear? I found a new set of PPCT2 for cheap...just wanted to know if the bigger rear tire would give me some clearance issues??

I believe you can run a 190 fine as far as clearance goes, not sure how badly it would affect handling though assuming you're installing it on the stock 5.5" rim.

I have a 190 on the rear... thought it looked cooler. I can't tell that it has affected clearance or handling and I tend to lean the hyper over pretty hard. you can put it on the 5.5 rim same way ducati did for the 749 and 999 .

You might want to check with Cycle Gear, but last weekend they had a $199 package deal on a set of Dunlop Sportmax Q2s. You can get any size you want.
Out!

With a 190 your only gonna get an extra 5mm each side compared to a 180, which is hardly noticeable visually. (About a 1/4 inch for you imperial folk).
It may affect your turn in, if your racing, but I doubt you notice it on the street. (depending on tire shape)
It's illegal now to run a 190 on a 5.5" rim here down under, thank God there's no tire police, yet it's OK to run a 180 on a 6" rim, (which is probably worse), like the Ape's do on the Shivers, Dorso's etc... weird.
We've been running 190's on 5.5" rims since Noah was a boy, without probs...
You'll have room easy...unless you have a rear huger that really hugs
If you feel the need for enlargement then go for it...
I'm still interested in the Dunflop Q2s. Heard good things but I'm a Pirelli fella from way back so...

I've been running a 190 on mine now for 4 months with a rear hugger. No clearance problems whatsoever. Seems to give more traction but yes it slows the cornering speed slightly but you really only notice if you're going hard.

Yeah...I passed on that 190 PP2CT deal. I don't want to screw up the handling, she corners real sweet right now even on bald tires! I'm going to run with the 180 Dunlops Q2. Heard good things about these dual-comp. tires "real sticky" & can't beat Cycle Gear deal $199.00 for the pair. Anyone else running the Sportmax Q2??
