Touring Seat
Hey Y'all
I have installed the Ca. Cycle Works 6.4 gallon tank and now my seat is the limiting factor to travel. I remember a while back several folks looking for a better seat and Corbin and Sargent were the normal responses. I also remember some folks being disappointed in the results in that they did not get the range they were looking for. Now that some time has passed anyone found a seat they really like.
My reason for asking is my son and I are planning a summer tour to Nova Scotia while I am still young enough to engage in such foolishness. We will have several days of 500 miles and the current seat is only good for about 150 miles.

I have the DP confort seat and the big tank, and as long as I'm in the twisties it makes the bike tolerable for 150 - 200 miles. I would recommend getting a custom built seat from someone like Rick Mayer so it's set up and tuned specifically for you. once I get my Duc fixed and heal up from my accident I'll likely be paying him a visit.

I've done over 500 mile days on my Sargeant seat and have had no issues. I highly recommend it

The Sargent seat has worked out great for me too. I did a ride in and had Rick Meyer build a seat for my old BMW GS and he did a great job, but as I recall pricing was similar to what I paid for the Sargent but with Rick Meyer you have to ride in or send him your stock seat to operate on, while Sargent ships you a whole seat and you can keep or sell the stocker.

Currently I have the DP Racing Seat and the stock seat. I find the Racing seat is good for about an hour or so, then I start getting hot spots. Pretty soon, I plan on taking my stock seat to Mr Ed's Moto's ( http://www.mredsmoto.com/) since hes local and I have had great feedback from people regarding his work.
Question thought. I see people post sometimes that they have the Comfort Seat... What are you referring to? I see there is the Racing Seat (which I have) and the Low Seat... I haven't seen a DP Comfort seat like the Monster has or am I just missing something. Thanks!

The comfort seat is the one that some refer to as the low seat. I have the comfort seat and it doesn't really seem any lower than than the stock seat.

The DP comfort seat has been nice for me and looks pretty good too. The only drawback is that because it has a gel insert in the saddle, it heats up when in the sun. Your ass will stay hot for some time thereafter when you hop back on. I usuall leave my helmet of jacket covering it if i can or find some shade.
Out!

Good question, tough answer. I read where one guy had 5,000 miles on his hyper in two months, I ask him what seat he used he said the stock seat. I talked to another guy about what seat he preferred and he said the racing seat and has done several 150 mile days without issue. Others like the Sargent or comfort seat.
I have owned them all and here is my feeling (understand yours will probably be different).
Stock seat: Pain in the butt after 1.5 hrs. Soft is not usually your friend.
Comfort seat: Not any better for me and doesn't fit as tight next to the tank as the stock seat.
Sargent: Very nice seat but didn't fit my rear end (small rear end for the width of the seat). If my rear did fit I would say this would probably be my choice.
Corbin: Have not tried the Hyper seat but my history with Corbin has not been good. I have owned two Corbin's on other bikes and they did not fit the bike well, both were warped. They were not comfortable for me and the customer service is horrible. Good luck getting them to take the seat back if it has any issues. I would not own another Corbin, nor would I recommend them (just MHO).
Racing seat: Hard but hard is not a bad thing if the seat fits you. Will let you know after I put 300+ miles on it this coming Sunday.

I bought a reworked comfort seat from Daisyup. She is a female rider who, bought the DP comfort seat, sent it to Sergeant. Sergeant removed the gel and replaced with memory foam, added length to fill the gap, then widened the seat at it's girthest point by about a 1/2" on each side. They then recovered it with better material. She liked the race seat better so sold it in the classifieds.
I don't know how much the rework cost her however, it was the perfect mod, no gap, wider, more comfortable. I regularly do 3+ hour rides around the island and I have no issues with it. Very good upgrade.
If someone is visiting hawaii you can take my bike out for a spin. I'm not stingy.
