Heel Guards after removing passenger foot pegs

I removed the passenger foot pegs on my Hypermotard. I have the stock exhaust. My boot on the right side was melting. I wanted to buy the Ducati Heel Guards but the $300.00 bucks did not seem worth it. Not to mention I did not have a problem on the left side. Came up with a better solution that cost $33.00 and looks great. Other Hyper owners have commented that it looks great. Just mount a 5 inch heat shield on the pipe. I can send you pictures if you want but here is a picture of the shield. Buy black. Just mount it with a screwdriver and cut the extra clamp wire off. Takes 5 minutes. No more burnt boot.

Other option without spending $ 300.00 would be this one at $ 165.35 with free shipping including the member discount.

Another idea

Indy Ducati had these small brackets that fit where the passenger peg 700 ton i-beam went. They had three different types all hand made by someone. Cost about $60 and look great. If I was home, Id post a pic. I'll try to remember to do that...

Essentially, just anodized billet aluminum shaped to fit to keep your heel out of the pipe and can't weigh more than a few ounces...

Maybe someone from Indy has a picture...

You can also remove the small guard from the passenger pegs and attach them to the top open hole when the passenger pegs are removed. Not my bikes, but see what I mean in the pic.

Where did you get the heat shields. They look great. I have a carbon fiber one from a 916 that had one side cut off so it covered one pipe rather than two but it is a little too high and my big foot keeps getting melted.

I got it off the shelf at Ducati in San Francisco there number is 415-626-3496. They also have them at Ducati in San Rafael, CA. 5-6 of the guys at Ducati in San Raf have Hypers so they seem to know the most. Ask for Dan on the Heat Shield. Their number is 415-456-3345.
