Another stock exhaust cored!!! :)
I have been going through all the exhaust modifications posts and finally decided to pull the trigger and mod my stock cans! I am very happy with the results! Much deeper tone!
Check out my write up, pictures and videos! Enjoy!

That's always my intent when I do write ups! I'd say the welding part is the hardest part but any muffler shop, friend or favor can help there! Thanks for the kind words!

What did he weld it with, gas or flex core?
Is the exhaust stainless?
Thanks

The exhaust is stainless. He used a TIG (Stainless rod, Argon) welder to stitch it back together.

+1 on the awesome write up & videos Motoman. Have you notice any proformance power gains or loss? I also heard you lose some of the Hypers engine braking when you core the stock mufflers? I can't afford to drop $2K on a new Termi system right now...I want more sound but don't want to hurt my proformance, so I am seriously thinking about doing this mod too!

I did 200 miles on the bike today and got a chance to get a feel for the exhaust mod......
By keeping the original hole in the end cap it's not alot louder.... but it gave a good tone. Love the sound when you get on it! Love the new snarl when you let off the gas....! The rest of the bike is totally stock so I haven't seen any power differences....I think that would come with opening the airbox more... but trying to stay within the parameters of the stock ecu...so baby steps! I have NO regrets with the new sound!!!

I'm IN when I get back from the AMA weekend in Sonoma. Looks like a good idea. Breathing is good. I did the airbox mod and think that the two combined will be the best that stock can do. I would rather 'dump' the money into the loley stock suspension (NOT an "S") ;-(
Great write-up - the pic's really help.
