What's missing?
My '09 Hyper (non-S) simply has a threaded hole in this area. Obviously something goes there, but all the pics, including this one, just look like it's some kind of filler plug or something.
Do I need it? I tried looking at the parts list and none of the pics were good enough to indicate whatever this is.
The black arrow is pointing to it, but kinda hard to see in this pic.

Probably just a threaded boss in the cylinder. They use them to mount accessory skid plates and lower fairings.

Possibly...
It's a pretty big hole. Can't imagine a piece of plastic needing something that big. I suspect it isn't used right now, but I guess I need whatever it is you guys have in yours.
It looks better with whatever plug seems to be in this picture...

What's the best brand/weight oil to use for this bearing?

It uses standard weight engine oil. No need to lube it seperately if you use the DP fillopian tube accessory and an appropriately sized diaphram.

Too bad
Bummer that the smart-ass answers are so much more prevalent than anything worthwhile...
No one knows what this is? No one can even take a second to look at theirs and see what they've got screwed in there? I didn't realize how difficult that might be...
Reminds me of the Harley forum.

On mine there are plugs in there on both sides(right and left). Since it is painted with the engine by the factory, I would never have noticed it unless you pointed it out. It literally looks like it is part of the casting.
Did you look on the other side as well?

I haven't
I never even thought to look on the other side. I'll do that when I get home.
It looks like it would take a pretty fair sized bolt (or something with threads), but I don't think it could go all the way through to the other side. I'll check...
