I stumbled across this in a search for an alternator cover removal tool... how did that happen?
Anyway, I built my own motor turning tool using an M8 bolt about 40mm with a spacer about 25 mm and a nut that fits the bolt. Basically you have spacer contacting crank, then nut jammed against spacer so it's tight. You can only turn motor in reverse using this home made tool. It was free for me using spare parts bin stuff. It worked much better than rotating the rear tire or paying $65 and waiting for the UPS dude.
I found this info on google.com There are some photos of the home made tool if you search ducati engine turning tool. I hope this helps someone.
