How not to spend a day riding
Was out for a ride on the Hyper today, hit some sand and in the course of recovering from a near low side, I did a 180 degree stoppie (yes, I flipped the bike end over end), which put me over the handlebars. Luckily I got to the ground first and broke the Ducati's fall (I do love my bikes). An ambulance ride and 4 hours at the ER later, I have a couple of fractured ribs and a separate right shoulder, a small abrasion on my forehead, and a few other aches and pains. Full riding gear and helmet, and I proved once again why we need to wear it all the time.
The really weird part is that all of the damage to the bike is in the top 6 inches of it's height; it truly flipped completely over and landed upside down (on me mostly). The windscreen is broken, the switchgear on the handlebars is smashed, and the tail rack is bent in a curve down to almost touching the underseat exhaust. The rest of the bike is perfectly fine, except for a couple of small scratches on the nose and side panel from when I pushed it off of me and onto the road.

Wow, sounds like a really odd sort of fall?
You'd think if your loosing the front from sand, any amount of front brake would just wash the front away not grip it, stand it up and flip it!
Where's the video footage when ya need it
Even though your broken and bruised sounds like you make a full recovery.
Broken ribs and shoulders can be damn painful though, nothing some good prescription narcotics can't help with
Good on ya for having your all the right gear on, could be getting skin grafts as well otherwise.
All the best for your recovery mate, try not to cough, fart, sneeze, or laugh too much, it will really hurt

OUCH! Glad to see you and the bike are (relatively) okay and are able to post up here. It's always better to hear about a crash first hand, as opposed to the news or an obituary. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

The "S" brakes are overkill.
Sorry to hear about your very unfortunate incident. Heal up well and heal up fast.

There is no such thing. Not to mention the brakes had nothing to do with the original post...
