Michelin Tires
After joining SportBike Track Time I got a coupon in the mail today from www.sportbiketireservice.com for 1 120/70 Michelin Power Race Medium & 1 180/55 Michelin Power Race Medium for $185 shipped. I just can't seem to find a lot of info on these tires, pricing, reviews, DOT, etc.
Anyone?

Actually, they really suck and if I were you I'd give them to the first person that replied to your post.....

I'll give that some thought...
What I was worried about was that they were the full up race tires that should be used with warmers. Michelin has made their performance tire selection so damn confusing....Pilot, pilot powers, pure power, power pure, power race, race only versions, commercial versions, pure pilot power race 2ct, 20 different compounds, some that need warmers, some that don't...
aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!
I'm just looking a for good deal on a track tire

You might want to ask this one over at the WERA site. Michelin does make if very confusing as to what tire is for what conditions.

I checked their website and did a lot of googling. I'll just call STT tomorrow.

I've used those tires on my 1098S and they work very well and I didn't use tire warmers. The carcass is extremely stiff and delivers a bumpy ride. I used them on the track and the street. It took them a while to warm up but once warm they stick and handle very good. Pressure is lower than what I was used to 28 PSI front and 22 PSI rear cold. They did not last very long but then again I didn't expect them to. They are taller than the Pilot Power 2 CT and the 2 CT is taller than the Pirellis and Bridgestones that I have used. I mostly use Pilot Power 2 CTs on both my bikes and like them better overall due to better milage and ride while not giving up too much grip. And BTW that is an excellent price!!

those tires wouldn't work very well for the way that I ride the Hyper. Besides, if you burn through three rears in the same mileage that you'd burn through one pilot road 2ct, are you really saving any money?
I don't even use GP tires on my track bike and I run in the A group. bridgestone BT016's and Pirelli DCIII's have held up to whatever I throw at them and are much more versitile of a choice in my opinion.

When things seem to be to good to be true they usually are and I found out that they were out of those tires for that deal.
So now I have to decide between the Dunlop Q2s at $199 for a set http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...UC_31-0832-1_G
Or the Michelin Pilot Powers $197 or 2CTs at $220 from Onanymoto.com.
I know the 2CTs are highly recommended and that's what I am leaning towards but does any one have any thoughts on the Q2s and normal Pilot Powers? I saw AXE stated in another thread that he was trying the Q2. Any thoughts now that you have had some time with it?

Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered a set of the Q2s to try.
If I were to get the the Michelin 2CTs, I would get the latest ones, the new replacement 2CT Power Pure, the original 2CTs would lose traction unexpectedly when leaned over hard, the new 2CTs have much more of the soft compound on the sides, and are VERY "lite" Aloha Alex
