From Monster to Hyper

Hi All,

Just thought I would throw up a quick post and say Hi! I bought a Monster 1100 last august but the ergos proved to just be too painful for me, I have a bad hip.

Today I traded the Monster in on a new "old stock" Hyper (2008 with 5 miles). I worked out a great deal on it, and already started modifying it to fit my style! After leaving the dealer, i broke it in properly with almost a 4 hour ride. What an amazingly fun bike!

I'm with ya B.

The reason the monster aggravated that hip is because like every other Duc' on the market, and ever made in history, it has a 'high' peg height. Even for a naked bike.

The Hyper is possibley the only Ducati that has a reasonable distance from the 'seat to peg', and it is a shit load of fun to ride
That's why I chose it.

After braking my pelvis in 3 places a couple of years ago, in a bike stack, the Hyper is the 'beez kneez' for those of us who are 'pelvically challenged'

Enjoy the leg room the Hyper offers... my left hip loves it

I also switched from a Monster S2R1K to a HM1100S, world of difference in comfort, I use my hyper more for touring and long weekends than I do commuting so it's great.

Monsters for the past decade, SBK's before that, my Hyper is the most fun I've ever had on 2 wheels (or at least equal to rolling the 125 out of the garage as a kid in the early morning to start it at the corner . . . !).

OP, the bike is beautiful, front to back, please tell us about the panels/paint!

I bought the bike at Motocorsa in Portland Oregon. I was looking at getting an 09 Hyper S, then tweeking it to fit my needs (bigger tank, DP rear rack, windscreen, etc). They had agreed to take a red on red S and swap the plastics from a black on black for me. The idea of black plastics on red frame just sounded so nice!

While I was there, they have had a Hyper on display for ages. I figured I would ask about it. Bike had the 2in1 Termi, racing seat, custom paint, blacked out extras, and lots of extra CF bits. Turns out it wasnt their bike, it was a bike from Ducati N.A.. They said if I wanted to make an offer on the bike, I was more than welcome to. I made an offer, Ducati N.A. said no, but then the guys at Motocorsa went to bat for me, worked with Ducati, and convinced them I should buy the bike at the price I was offering. In the end, they said yes, and I went nuts with excitement!

The speedymoto frame sliders get installed next week. I ordered the fabbri black satin windscreen too. There wasnt time yesterday to have the CA Cycle works tank installed, but all I need to do is schedule a 4 hr block and its done. I also paid for the DP rear rack and the red/black rear bag but we found there was an install issue (the 2in1 interfers with the tail lights. I need to find an integrated solution). From there, I will be ready to put some serious miles on this summer. I cant wait!!

Oh, and the guys at Motocorsa just convinced me to throw the open clutch cover on too (black speedymoto pressure plate, red speedymoto spring caps, and black speedymoto flow cover). I was worried the clutch would be too loud, but after the 2in1 (no baffle), its just sweet sweet music!

I just switched the insurance, and it went up a whole $1 per month vs the Monster. I cant complain about that either!! Ok, enough typing, its not raining outside, I am going riding. Chat with you all later!!!!
