Exhaust Question
I have a 2010 Hypermotard 796. Does anyone know if I can Core the Cat?
I plan on coring the Exhaust as well. I am worried that if I core the cat I may have a issue with the computer.
Can anyone give me a heads up on this? Thanks.

I dunno if you can or should. If you have the $$ a Leo Vince cat elinimator is a great way to start exhaust mods and lose 10lbs (or so it feels like it). I don't know if the one they sell for the 1100 will fit the 796 or if they have one for the 796 or if is coming but if you ever need to replace the cat for emissions/resale/etc. I think they cost as much as a full Termi 2-1 to purchase separately. Just put it on a shelf and let it collect dust while you ride. Cheers. Oh, and congrats on the new ride!

You can get the similuator for the o2 sensor which plugs in the harness in place of the o2 sensor, saw one on a website the other day. Sorry can't tell you what the brand was though.

Yeah, you want to think things out a little farther ahead , before doing things that can't be undone . There is a reason stuff is so expensive ...
Eliminating the cat and flapper with some really nice and expensive exhaust looks really good too.
I assembled my old exhaust system and hung it from the ceiling in the garage ,(Wifey wouldn't let me put it in the living room) ..It is a fine looking sculpture!!!
It is always good to be able to put bike back to stock if someone wants to purchase it later in that form ...
Great to have a good Running bike and know for sure all is in good order...
Just my opinion ...

1: no flapper on 796
2: 2, 02 sensors. Not compatible with curennt market products (seimens ECU)
3: Cat eliminator on 796 requires complete manifold replacement
Arrow 71417MI $466 at Desmotimes.com does not require ECU
upgrade.

Good news on the LV pipe release ..... Can not wait to see them as they are the only reason I am holding out.
Gutting out the cat does not seem like a good performance mod for the 796.... does not look like an efficient flow path on the 796 system.
I am still not sure to go 2-1 likee SC-Proj or keep after market 2 pipes out the back..... I read that 2-1 improves mid range and that would be great.... Not enough manufactures provide dyno charts to help all of us decide how to spend hard earned cash for the individual improvement we are looking for.

I plan to install Arrow manifold ( eliminating Cat) .
Improving the look and reducing heat are my #1 priority.
I like the stock can, and not interested in extra noise.
Just want reliable, smooth ridability.

Thanks for the info. I think i will just wait for the LV cat eliminator.
I want to core the cans because the bike is just too quite in traffic.
The Fatduc kit doesnt work with the 796
