Red face Cored exhaust: A different approach to cutting.

Too lazy to set my mig up for stainless so I found a way to gut the stock exhaust without having to weld anything. It may have been covered in another thread but here goes.

1. Cut outside of pipe below where the rivets were

2. Cut the outlet pipe from the inside out

3. Pull off end cap

4. Cut the pipe and small tab that connects the two dividers. Pull out divider.

5. Almost done

6. Paint ends

Now I have to get out the rivet gun to put the outer caps back on. Yes, I'm not going to put the stock end caps back on so there will be a huge opening. Some will hate, we'll see.

$50 for the entire exhaust system via eBay. $25 for the rivet gun and rivets so if it turns out bad I'll just put the stocker back on.

I drilled an extra hole in the left pipe. We'll see. It probably won't sound as good as my previous bike build.

Nice work. I reckon you will like the sound of those cans compared to stock. They're gonna sound nuts!
This is exactly what was done to my bike by it's previous owner other than the fact he put the stock end caps back on.
It sounded great but it did get a little distorted and raspy at high revs.
I have no idea what yours will sound like leaving it open like you have, but it will be LOUD!
Definitely get a sound clip up when you can.

Here's a vid the previous owner did of my bike with same mods as you, but end caps put back in. Bike has Zard headers too.

I have since fitted Zard Pentas which sound a lot more refined, still deep and loud, just less distorted at high revs.
