Hypermotard GPS Mount

My wife got me a Garmin Zumo 550. Mounting it to the handle bars wasn't going to work.
So I came up with this idea.

First I cut the ball off the mount that came with the Zumo

Centered, drilled the ball and tapped it 5x0.8mm, and put it on a stud

Used it to replace the left tank cover screw

Everything clears it

And when the GPS is not gone, you don't notice.

let us know how it works... is it hard to look at when you're riding since we sit so far forward on the hyper? dude, seriously, nice job!

Finished the GPS wiring tonight. I modified a waterproof cigarette lighter plug with the same plug size that Gerbing uses.
Installed it on the right inside fairing panel right below where the tool kit goes

Unplugged

Plugged in

Sealed against the weather when not in use.

Did 558 miles this weekend with the GPS installed. I was able to see it no problem, held fast. It seems like the mount works.

Looks very cool, do you have any problems with the handlebars hitting your gps unit at all?
