Anyone shorten the 2-1 termi can?
went and checked out the hyper im getting tomorrow this past weekend
one question about the termi 2-1 single exhaust can, anyone ever shorten the canister to bring it inside the body lines on the rear? i think it would look neater being shorter than the tail and also sound a little meaner. actually expected the bike to be louder, but maybe its a good thing it is quiet for my neihborhood. haha.

if the bike with 2-1 termi isn't loud, check to make sure that the DB killer is removed. You can do so by looking for 4 or 5mm allen bolt isn't attached at the end of the can. Mine is quite loud without the db killer and nice and quiet with it in. Shortening the can would be very loud, I imagine.

i tried shortening the carbon can on an extra termi 2-1 slip on i have ... the carbon can has flairs on each end where the titanium end cap and the stainless front cap are riveted to the can. checked with our local carbon fiber guru here in the bay area ... he advised it is not possible to cut and then join the shortened can ... so i gave up on the idea.
perhaps the titanium canned termi 2-1 slip on might be shortened?

I shortened mine this winter, quite straight forward with the correct tools. I was worried about those slight flares too but it turned out fine. I think they are caused by heat. The end caps will fit the carbon oval tube anywhere you choose to cut. Cut the carbon with a dremel and diamond disc cutter, makes a very clean cut. The only other tricky thing, if you want to do it right, was when you shorten the bronze/brass mesh to re-silver solder it back. ( The mesh stops the rock wool blowing out )
As for sound when I took it apart the rockwool was gone/moved 3" at front and thats how much I cut off, so for me there was no change in sound.
Theres a thread somewhere on another forum with a few pics which is helpful.
So if you are used to drilling cutting moding go for it.

yup, used to it. ive got the factory low mount arrow on my speed triple, i cored it, repacked it, but didnt shorten it. titanium is a bitch to cut. besides it was getting on the too loud side for my neighbors. when i checked the bike out saturday didnt see a baffle in there. i'll double check again tomorrow when it gets delivered. i'll ride it the way it is for a while, but im sure im gonna cut it since it just looks too long on the side like that.
thanks for the replies guys!!
