Track day boots
Can anyone recommend some decent (and cheap!) track day boots? I just bought some leathers and now I need to get something other than my street/touring boots for an occasional track day this summer.
And I don't like to be cheap with stuff like this but after the cash I dropped on the suit my wife is going to kill me if I spend $400-450 on another pair of boots. I guess the minimum I am going to get away with is about $200 for some Sidi B2 or Fusion or the Astar S-Mx 5 boots. Anything else you can recommend?

You might be able to find a pair of Dainese Axial's in your price range. Those and Daytonas are the only boots i would trust.Just about everything else on the market is just leather with lego glued to it.I have seen a pair of those slapped across a counter top and they folded in half with bits of broken plastic all over the place. Can't do that with Dainese or Daytona!

Nothing wrong with those A-stars. Check out NewEnough or Dennis Kirk for some closeout deals.
Out!

I love my TCX boots. Mine are the Competition S model, which has been replaced with the SS Sport. For 180 bucks, they're pretty damn nice. And they fit a wider foot, which almost nothing else on the market can do...

Yep, Go for new old stock... Last years or 2 year old models will knock 30-40% off...
I have Dainese DAxial (actually bought 2 pair) out and Sidi Vortice and Vertigo air. I have crashed both brands and have ALWAYS come away impressed.
Gloves are the other thing I don't mess around buying low-end. I have seem cheap gloves after crashes and the results are horrible...
Low price and cheap are two different things. If price is a concern, buy older top of the line rather than latest model mid or low grade.

Definitely agree and I am shopping right now for the older models. It just takes some research to find a decent model with the right price, in the right size. A lot of the closeouts are very limited on sizes.
I was able to find a great deal on a Dainese 1 piece that was technically used but it never saw any use. Didn't fit the previous owner. I was going to go with a Joe Rocket or AGV suit ($300-$500) but I really didn't want to skimp on the suit and now I really don't want to skimp on the boots either.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I have some old A-star leather touring/commuter boots. I can't remember the model, but they are similiar to the Ridge. I also have some Tech 3 offroad boots. Both are size 42 or about 8-8.5US.

I just bought the A-Star Vented SMX5's and they are great. I have never had street boots before but am very satisfied with them so far. I have A-Star Tech 6's for MX'n so I thought I would give the SMX-5 a shot and am glad I did.

Sidi Vertigos. I bought the Tepor waterproof ones, and I even wear them in dead of summer. They don't breath like a vented boot, but they're not bad and they're great in winter. Think I paid $275 and I'm sure you could find them cheaper than that. Sidi's are the best boots I've owned.
