Will these fit

Getting a pretty good deal on some track tires. Will 190/55 X 17 fit our rims?

yes, a 195/55 17 will fit ... but you really don't need that fat a tire, and you will not get as fast a turn-in with the 190 as you do with a 180.

I understand the turn in bit. The track I ride at has long sweeping turns vs tight stuff. It is to long a track for this bike anyway but I only pay $105 once a month for the day and ride for 6-8 sessions.

Yes, and do try them... no harm in trying. I had one of the Michellin Reps come up to me at Streets of Willow ( a tighter track) and say some people were using 190's on the Hyper... I told him to bug off because I thought he was trying to sell me on bullshit thinking I was someone who would be impressed by the "big tire" phenomenon... but if it was cheap in cost I would try it for a long sweeping track. The argument against is that its heavier coupled with the slower turn in that JohhC mentioned...

agree with antigrav ... if your track and other riding on the hypertard is not on tight stuff, and the price is good on the 190 ... go for it.

I wouldnt run a 190 on a 5.5" rear rim. They are really designed to run on a 6" rear rim.

Yes the profile will change but its not super dramatic...it will work fine for his use. The fact is that you can use a couple different sizes... I'm learning a lot more about this after talking to some tire reps...but it gets crazy with the way people talk about tires and oil. Some 170s from one Manufacture are almost as wide as 180 from another and they will have different profiles... But if I was running a track like Big Willow (which I would never do on the Hyper) I would definately go with a 190 since it has such big long corners. By the way this isn't my opinion, I really don't know shit about tires except if they grip or not...Its just from the reps I've spoken too. I stick with Bridgestone 003s or 016 on the Hyper just because they slide without a fast breaking loose of traction... but I have not tried other tires so what do I know...
