stock exhaust
Is there any mods that can be done to the stock exhaust to imoprove preformance and sound? I just ordered the cat eliminator, hoping that helps sound. But i really like the look of stock cans, and like to keep em.

I think it's HyperKromo who did that, on his Hypermotard turbo project.

Sick50 and some others have done this mod. You will find several threads on this topic if you search. There are some with photos. You will get some performance gains and better sound, but really only after you lose the cat. Be prepared to have your ECU reprogrammed or buy a DP performance ECU to add the necessary fuel (FatDuc may work as well).
Out!

Work is still in progress. So far I he did only 1 pipe.
I will post update here.
As for performance, really dont know.
I'm not even sure this would give anything more than noise. Maybe if you open the airbox and get more air intake it would be an interesting mod to do.
But as mentioned above, this requieres a DP ECU or, even better, a Nemesis.

I mean preformance wise, does it hurt low end by taking away back pressure? Ive done similar on smaller dirt bikes and such and got those results. I want better sound but not at a cost of the nice low end punch i love of my hyper.
thx man
