Flywheels and torque
I recently had the lightweight nichols flywheel fitted at my Ducati dealers...they reckoned that there would be a reduction in torque.
Is this correct?

It can't reduce or increase the power of the engine. It changes the power delivery.

even though this has been beaten to death... I'm always interested in hearing more about how the lightened flywheel has changed other's hypers. Go into a little more detail about how it has changed the delivery for you please.... I'm still on the fence about this mod.

Ok te bike revs a lot more freely..and seems to be quicker to get up to speed. It is also a lot smoother. It seems to rev out more...for longer before an upshift.

Well it seems too......I even suspect the dealer of raising the rev limiter....it's weired

Yes it's less lumpy...buzzier if you like but not buzzy...still has lots of engine braking but is definitely smoother on downshifts..or easier to match engine speed to road speed...It just feels quicker..in terms of acceleration too..
The overall feel i get is smoother..and more free revving..

if it weren't for the labor cost, I'd go install one right now. ducshop has a lightened one for $75. need to learn how to work on my engine I guess. thanks for the riding impressions, my mind is pretty made up now.
