Battery Bracket question
Ok i am stumped. When i took the battery out last year i didnt note how the braket fit snug,
so here i am getting my prep done and i cant for the life of me figure it out, the bracket just shakes around....
I may just be retarded, which is fine i guess, but since this was an issue found in 08 its nowhere to be found in the manual...
help would be mucho gracias!
Keith

I'm a little confused by what you mean that it shakes around. Have you tightened the nut that clamps it to the panel bolt? On mine, it doesn't hold the battery super snug, but it doesn't shake around at all.

The bracket side panel bolt is a long one, put it in first, tighten down, from the bottom install the thick washers & bracket, in the right location, and tighten the nut on the bottom side while holding the top of the bolt so it will not turn, hope this helps, Aloha Alex

Yeah it is a litle tricky ...get a good look at it and it should come to you...
A search should help .
While you are at it ...
What I done is Pack some thin sill plate gasket material (styrofoam type 1/4 inch thick) around the battery to make it unlikely that stones would lodge between the battery and Gas tank and causing a leak..
Simple fix..to what could be a big problem...

As soon as I can find the digital camera I'll take a picture. Sometimes a picture is worth....

From the top : put plastic washer on top of CF (or plastic)
run long bolt 1/2 way down (4mm allen wrench)
Put fat washer up on underside of frame bracket against the welded on nut of the frame bracket then battery bracket then the flanged nut run part way up
snug top bolt (4mm)to secure CF (or plastic)
WHILE Backing up the 4mm bolt run the bottom nut to secure the battery bracket , against the fat washer, against the frame nut that is welded on the frame bracket
Tighten securely ...
Now you remember don`t you
I only had 2 washers a clear plastic one and a fat one
