Losing the handguards... turn indicators?
Hey folks, looking around in the pictures thread here and I've seen a few Hypers without the hand guards and I was wondering what those of you who have decided to get rid of them have done about the front turn indicators?
Do you just remove those too, get new ones? If so what type is a good replacement and then what about mounting them up?
I was contemplating replacing them with bar end mirrors and indicators or maybe just the bar end mirrors... or perhaps just the left bar end mirror and then maybe relocating the indicators somewhere else.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated as always. Since I wrecked her I figured I do the upgrades that I wanted. Seeing as how I never really cared for the handguards I'm not sad to see those going. Just would have perfered to do this by choice.

i removed mine to keep from doing what you did. i got the hyper handguards and am still looking for signal and mirror options. the duc accessories mirrors with built in signals look good but are kinda pricy $310. and i still worry about trail damage.

I got the DP Racing Mirrors, and while they look great, they have more drawbacks than just the price (I actually got mine very cheap, but that was because I had to source my own clamps). Other issues are that they are very small. So small that you have to decide whether you want them to be useful in 'tuck' mode or in standard cruiser mode. There is no middle ground. The other issue is that the angle they need to be at in order to be somewhat useful makes the indicators very hard to see for oncoming traffic. I've had more than one person gas it at a stop sign even though I clearly had the right of way, and was signaling to turn left. Last but not least, they are already starting to show signs of rust on the arms and tightening nuts. They are less than a year old, and my bike is always under a large overhang. Pretty disappointing.
If I were to do it over again, I would buy a set of Aprilia SXV mirrors (they look and work great, plus I never had any rust issues in the 2 years I owned my SXV). Then I would get a couple LED strips (like these http://www.amazon.com/LED-Signal-Ind.../dp/B000UE61ZY) and mount them to my Zeta handguard frames as blinkers. I will likely end up doing this eventually, but now it will be hard to sell my DP mirrors to anyone because of all the issues I mentioned.

I'm thinking also about doing the same modification.
I found on the web some nice mirrors with turn signals :

available in May 2010 for 130 Euros (180$)

I got these from Rizoma:

And used them with Ducati's LED signals. You could mount any turnsignal you wanted though.

options
There are some pretty decent options in this thread:
Pro Taper handlebars revisited...
I kind of like this solution:
http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myProducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=605|Lighting%2C%20 Turn%20Signals%2C%20%26%20Mirrors&productID=5631&s howDetail=1&categoryID=606|Turn%20Signals&vendorid todisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=605|Lighting%2C% 20Turn%20Signals%2C%20%26%20Mirrors
I am thinking of those and then getting a decent set of hand guards.

I am interested in these SXV mirrors, are they a direct bolts on? Any other info you have on them would be awesome. Thanks!
