Wrecked
Well I did it... I'm part of the club.
As I was approching the intersection of Ketner and Grape in my fine hometown of San Diego, I grabbed the front brake and then hit the pavement. I tend to ride pretty aggressively and it finally bit me in the ass. I thoroughly enjoy speeding up to a red light and then jamming on the brakes at the last second or two to come to a stop (not stoppies though). As I was going about 40mph I grabbed the front brake as I always do but this time the bike just slid out from under me and I hit the ground like a sack of potatoes. I didn't feel the rear of the bike lift or anything like that; just the front end locked up.
It left a 15ft tire mark on the road and then 4 gouges in the pavement all where my foot pet, shifter, handle bar and LT front faring took the brunt of the impact.
The way I look at it, I'm lucky I'm not injured other than being sore and the damages to the bike are all parts I wanted to upgrade anyway so I suppose it's not all to bad.

Well I was taking the bike apart just now to see if there was any additional damage. While I was at it I figured that I'd check my air pressure in my front tire... 46psi!!! I almost shit myself. The old gauge that I'd been using was reading wrong so I was putting far too much air in my tires. I also checked the rear and it was at 58psi.
I think this might have had a lot to do with my little incident. Anyhow, thanks for the kind words fellas.

Nice to walk away unhurt.
I am surprised you weren't wheel spinning more with pressure like that, must be decent rubber.

It happens. I once destroyed my new 2001 F4i with 700 miles on it by losing it in a wheelie shifting from 1st to 2nd.
I like refering to it as not a bonehead move but rather "running out of talent at the wrong time".

I was going to ask if you slid on some sand/grit, but that tire pressure would do it too. It's a hell of a thing loosing the front; you're down before you know anything is a mis, wondering what the hell happened. Of course you realise this is fodder from heaven for the ABS crowd.
Glad you're okay, and have broadened your motorcycling experience by "joining the club": you are a better rider now.

no fun
glad to hear your ok.
I feel you pain and completely understand that split second between being upright and hitting the deck as I did it this past weekend.

Yeah, I checked my pressure gauge with my mechanics' one and mine too was reading way high. Went back to the dealer with it and they said "yeah, we've been having some problems with those gauges." Glad the damages/injuries were relatively minor.
