I was able to ride about 11 miles after the light came on once and I was riding @ 55mph and coasting where I could.

30 is what you are supposed to get, I have taken it as far as 20 with no problem but not sure I want to push it much further as I hate walking.

i've had no problems getting 20 more miles of aggressive riding and still have 0.3 gallons left at the gas station. mpg doesn't seem to change too much on this bike (stock) whether you're pushing it or just putting around. my commute mpg is 37-38mpg and my aggressive canyon carving runs are around 33-35mpg. i reguarly do an aggressive canyon ride that's almost exactly 100miles between refuels - my buddy with a vstrom used to carry a syphon pump just in case but it hasn't been a problem at all.
