gas mileage
Hi, I just don't get it. Light comes on around 80 miles from full tank , refuel and put in 2.6 gal. = 30.76 MPG
This bike should do better than that.
I just picked up a 1 gal. RCI aluminum aux fuel tank (the only size that will fit in my DP tail bag) that I will tie into the main tank but still only looking at maybe 110 miles after that project.
I was talking to a guy last weekend that says he gets 55 MPG.
I ride between 4000-8000 RPM's most of the time, cruz around 4000 shift around 8000.
Should I bring this back to the dealer ??? bike is a new 08 w/ 1000 miles on it..

Check your trip meter and odometer to see if they're reading the same mileage. The 08s had a software issue where the trip meter read .6 miles for every mile traveled (on the Odo). If yours is off, have the dealer do the software update.

Mine too!
Hey before I changed exhaust and added the Fat Duc. I got about 90-98 per tank. Now with idle being set higher and so forth I'm down to 80-85 per tank. I usually range bwt 27 around town & 34 on the highway. Our riding style's sound quite similar too.

I had my dealer check for all recalls using my vin #'s
I run a GPS on my bike and I did notice that when the bike says 63 the gps was 60 and when the bike said 70 the gps was 65. That being said I'm getting even worse gas mileage than I thought.
How many miles before your light comes on ??

Yikes! That is bad. I've never run my bike that far to have the light come on. I also fill up at home. The couple of times I have filled up at a station I was getting about 45 MPG.

Our gallons are different to yours and we use litres anyway, so distance to light on is probably best, with casual city riding I go 106 miles on most tankfulls.

There are a lot of variables, and although it sounds bad, if you use the entire rev range its not a ridiculous number. I have been from low 30s to high 40s, depending on conditions, fuel, etc. With all my mods now I'm usually high 30s to 40 in cruise mode, less if I'm on it a lot. If I'm on a road trip and gas availability is a potential issue, I'll always top as not to get caught, and/or back it down a bit. I also carry two 2L cans in my tailbag. Now is the worst time, with winter blend fuel and cold temps, at least here in the north east.

My experience
If your putting in 2.6, I have to think you should be able to squeeze out another 30 miles???? Tank is 3.3g I believe. So, you may not have a problem but there is a known issue with some of the '08 bikes as a few have posted. The issue with the trip meter not reading correctly is kind of like the mileage meter is in miles and trip is in KM.
When I got my bike, I usually got around 100 miles on the tank during break-in. After break in, I had the Termi 2-1 installed and I picked up the trip meter issue. I ran out of gas twice and trip meter was around 88 miles.
I took the bike back to the dealer, they applied the patch and I now have no issues with the trip meter. Mileage varies depending on right hand action but I have gone from a max around 120 miles on a tank to a low of 95 for one of my track days. One other thought, you should be putting in over 3gallons if you were low.
