Fuel Pump drip

Hey all- I'm sure this is normal, but just wanted to check.

My Hyper has been in winter mode (ie: sitting in the garage) for a few months. Too much snow/ice and salt to take 'er out. During the last few weekends we had some nice days, so I've been taking 'er out for short rides. It takes quite a few cranks to fire up. (My '08 has a one-button starter. You give it one push, and the solenoid takes over until the bike starts.) Once running, everything seems fine, but I've noticed that there is some gas dripping from the fuel pump cover under the seat. The drip stops once the bike is running, but it's still disconcerting to have gas dripping out under the bike and onto the swingarm.

Should I forget about it? This has only happened the last 2-3 times I've started it, after being stored for awhile and with 8-10 cranks before firing up.

Thanks!

Sounds like it may be an o-ring may have failed from one of the fuel lines. If its under warranty take it in and see if they will take care of it for you. If not then take it apart yourself and see if either fuel line has a damaged o-ring. Also check the bolts that hold the sending unit to the tank. Ensure that those are all nice and tight; don't over torque those!

I'm not sure if you can purchase the o-rings separately from the fuel lines but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to.
