Inconsistent front brake action
My Hypermotard S seems to be showing some inconsistent front brake action. I seem to suffer from the initial mush with sudden bite that others have complained about which I could deal with if it was consistent. On my bike the point of hard biting seems to vary from stop to stop so I ride weird sometimes. It also does not foster confidence.
My feeling is that the brake MC is too small and perhaps the brake lines are swelling.
What have some of you guys tried to cure this? Has anyone done braided lines? Larger MC?

Have the pads been replaced?
What brand -type were used?
I have had bad experiences experimenting with various compounds of pads on my bikes - with some pads rendering the disks useless.
On the S, my brakes are consistent once warm, and only then do I let someone else ride it.

Water absorbed from the air by the brake fluid will separate out and the droplets will pool together, boil at lower temperatures, and result in erratic behavior especially during repeated braking. Glycol-based brake fluid should be changed every 18 months or sooner. Water in the fluid will also cause internal corrosion that often lead to caliper piston retraction problems.

My opinion is that nothing discussed on the other threads is going to fix the issue and I was hoping that someone who does track events or more extreme prep of this bike would have experience in curing this issue.
The mushy feel and sudden hard bite feels like a MC bore size issue at least thats what it feels like on a race car.

It is not a bore size issue nor do you need a new brembo MC (unless your wiegh alot or are execptionally fast... The S brakes are extremely good in stock form and handle the track fine though they may fade a bit under heavy track riding. I have yet to have the brakes fade more than a tad and that is on the track only. My brakes are very good and progressive, but if your heavy handed on the brakes at slow speeds the brakes will bite or might feel grabby. These brakes do work great. Hope you find your problem I can't tell you what it is... maybe a wee bit of air in the line...

I've had exactly the same experience as Antigrav with the "S" front brake.
One little tidbit I'd throw in for brake/clutch bleeding-- be sure to bleed the
master at the lever... I've reaped more benefits from that than I've gained from
bleeding the slave at the caliper, in terms of firming up the lever feel. It's
especially important if the hydraulic system has been opened.
Clamping the lever for to the grip for a few hours has helped on my buddies'
KTM... getting all those air bubbles out is a bit of a game sometimes.
