Graunchy Transmission

'08 Hyper S, 2700 miles, and the shifting is gotten noticeably notchier in the last 1000 miles.

I'm not doing anything weird, (as far as I know) , i've had my share of sport bikes over the years, never experienced this. It hasn't been to the track yet, but I do hate the stock pegs, they make it awkward to get my size 9.5 sidi vertigo toes in to shift, (forget work boots), they are too wide front to back. I'm wondering if i've been torqueing the shifter unknowingly because of this. Shifting off the inside of my toe, etc.

I am running Pazzo shorty levers, i wonder if i'm not clutching as cleanly as i was before i installed these...

Anyone else experience this?

Try changing the oil, then try the stock clutch lever, then...miles. Lots more miles.

Also, maybe adjust your lever level which you can do in 10 seconds, get a comfortable shift zone that suits you and your footwear.

There is no right or wrong, just what works for you, of interest just check your magnetic bung, screen and filter for any undue rubbish (like gear hardening), unlikely but be observant.

I couldn't hardly fit my size 12 boots under the shifter with the rubber piece still on the pegs. Once I removed that, it became much easier. I also had to make some adjustments to the lever to create room.

-Appreciate all the help.

-I changed the oil and rode it over the weekend, there was no sign of metal in the screen or magnetic drain plug. Shifting felt the same.

-I talked with the local dealer and since i've already tried some aftermarket pegs (Oberon aluminium, they angled forward), we agreed some multistrada pegs would work and be a cheap fix in creating more room for my riding boots. I like the flat moto style pegs on my supermoto track bike, but not the hyper.

-I'll most likely change back to original clutch lever as well even though it doesn't look as trick!
