open to the elements

I was just curious about the open clutch covers, is it a wise choice for a bike that will be riden in all types of weather? how does rain and debri affect the life and preformance of clutch?

if the clutch plates get wet and are left to dry (not ridden), expect to purchase a new set as the plates will become rusted together.

That is correct. I had a Super Sport and was caught in a brief rain near the end of the ride. When it was placed into gear at the next ride it stalled. The (Barnett) clutch was locked up. It was not hard to get them working again, but if they'd had time to dry while riding I do not think they would have locked.
