ot: anyone here owned a service honda cr500 streeted?

If you do not know what a Service Honda CR500AF is you probably haven't owned one. It's basically the ultimate bike IMO. I'd love to street one or buy one already set. The newer ones use the crf frame (I have a crf450 streeted already).

Service honda were building these before Honda extinguished the CR500 since the cr250 had the modern frame/ suspension.

I know this isn't an everyday ride but I can imagine how ridiculous it would be as I have owned a KX500.

I've seen a very very few of these streeted and I think I want one

My guess is that it might be a little tough to sneak by the DMV. How did you plate your CRF450?

oregon before they cared (2005)

Seems I can plate it in Ca as soon as it has 7500 miles. Maybe I will research putting the CR500 motor in my 450, frame cannot be that much diff from a 250

I see your in Calif but I don't know how on earth you got a crf past DMV... maybe a CRFX? I legalized a 07 WR 450 but that is because they don't have 3 or a C in the 8th position or is it 3rd of the VIN, but all MX bikes have that 3 or C and it is a no go the second you show any paperwork at DMV... you won't even go forward to inspection. Additionally you will absolutely not get a 2 stroke past any form of CA DMV inspection which is required on all dual reg titles the last 5 years. Good luck on an attempt but you will see what I say is correct. Go to thumper talk and do some research.

How do they know if it's a two stroke? they are morons!

They were all set to reg my 05crf450x in CA but I didn't have the EPA sticker so I have to wait until 7500 miles. I could always roll up the bajadesigns odo but what's the point. I am in no hurry to pay CA 5 times what oregon wants for nothing special.
here's a cool article, don't knw what state he has it plated in.

I'd be interested in trading for a streeted (oregon or CA pref) cr500af for mine:

+1 I have a huge scar from the hole ripped in my leg by my XR's footpeg. Had I been wearing proper gear I would have probably made it out with some road rash.
