Only 1 winning lottery ticket separates me and this,

Damn, the puppy, wife, kids, mortgage and job. I envy the lucky few that can take advantage of this little side excursion.

I saw this in Cycle world and thought the same thing. If you could do it though what bike would you wanna be on? I'm torn between a 800GS or maybe I would try the new Multistrada.

I was thinking the same thing. Certainly, the 800gs would be a strong contender along with its R1200 stable mates and the KTM adventure bikes. However, I have a feeling that I might pick one of the 600 options: BMW650 xcountry, the kawi 650klr, ktm 690r and Honda 600l. Ural did get a thought or two.
I also had to think that a modded Hyper: knobbies, larger tank and cases would make for an interesting option. Seeing the video of the guy that put studded tires on his Hyper provided some credence.
For me, I would want to place greater weight on engine simplicity (less electronics) and parts availability. BMW is everywhere and the Japanese 600s have been in production, relatively unchanged, for what, 20 years now?
Since the ride is supported, I have a feeling, bike choice may not be as great of importance vs a solo/duo effort.

I wonder how much of it is offroad. I'd have to imagine some of it has to be that would factor in my choice. Definatley a trip of a lifetime. They should make a documentary from it or a reality show I'd watch that.

Darn Kiwis have all the fun. Love the last pic with designated driver, assuming those are adult beverages on each side of the helmet.
