What you don't want to see...
While awaiting delivery of the stands for your new bike.

now that IS unusual. I wonder the level of detail they would include. Like "Civil War", "Nuclear Explosion", "Cattle impeding progress"...

You may want to hide your tracking #...
At one point it was possible to divert shipping destination if you knew the tracking #... don't know if that's still true.
I guess a derailment is a diversion too, but just to be safe...
I've never seen that before!!

Well, after doing a bit of googling, I found that this is apparently a VERY common scenario for UPS. But only for UPS for some reason. Many are suspecting that since no news articles ever mention the many, many, UPS train derailments, that UPS is just making them up to cover for their mistakes and delays. Pretty shady if you ask me. I'd prefer if they just said "our bad, it's gonna take a couple more days."

It doesn't mean the train carrying the UPS packages derailed; it may simply mean some other train derailed, causing delays since they have to clear the tracks or divert trains elsewhere. I found this quote from here:
Quote:

Like many of you, when I saw the UPS train derailment notice, I think of all the UPS packages that were probably damaged or destroyed during this accident. Apparently there was a train derailment on April 3rd. But it was not the UPS train with all the packages on it. A coal train derailed, causing the rails in that area to be shut down affecting all trains using that railway. So while indeed there was a train derailment affecting the on-time UPS deliveries, as UPS claims, what they don’t tell you is that is was not their train. So this “train derailment” was nothing more then a traffic jam as far as UPS is concerned. Leave it to UPS to make it sound worse then it really is.

I don't think my Pit Bull stands would help them change their horseshoes.

My father in law works for BNSF and has cleared plenty of derailments in his time. You know what happens to the shit that is dumped? The rail company assumes ownership and its off to the landfill or scrap yard...........no salvage, no resale, no nothing.
Maybe Obama buys them now and gives them to the banks to resell for a tidy profit to give to the execs.
Out!
