Out Of Ducati For Good
Afternoon gents
Due to many problems and failures I am leaving Ducati the brand for good, not sure what I will get yet as I have not quite got that far.
Will have a few goodies for sale which I will offer up here first.
Anyway, cheers for the help, the larfs and the scraps, will miss you guys but not the catastrophic failures I seem to plagued with owning Ducatis.
Looking at KTM 990 Super moto and the sorts, anyone with any input both good and bad would be welcome, sick of being owned by yello bikes, need something that will last more that 12000 km.

Good luck with your new puchase. I've had a good run out of a couple of KTM singles... except for the time the carb needle fell through to the float bowl, I often wonder what happened to the circlip. If my mate hadn't seen it drop on the ground when I pulled the carb it bits I would have been stuck in the bush for quite a while.

I honestly think all you will be losing is a good looking bike... I bet the KTM will have better suspension for what you seek, fine handling and have a great motor as well, though it will have a different power band. I'm not a Ducati brand loyalist by any means and I think they are falling behind the curve with this old school motor in the Hyper and the cheap short cuts on the "S" models instead of real performace improvements like a real set of forks. Anyway good luck.

Aren't they fixing it under warranty?
I though those 2v motors were pretty tough.
I mean I put 60,000 km on my Sport1000 before running it into a 4WD, had no engine probs.

6th gear pooped itself, Ducati want to replace 6th gear and the rings only.
The bike has had hardening running through the motor and this is not good.
There have been a number of issues, smaller ones that I am not worried about however this is pretty much it, my last four Ducatis have been a problem with my Monsta bursting into flames while riding it, MH900e engine out at 1175 km valves and seats cut wrong from factory, ST4s left hand main bearing blown at 12000 km and now this at 11979.

This is my thoughts exactly, to quote a mate who owns 7 KTMs, a 1098 s Tri colour and vespa, he said KTM is the ugly sister without the diseases!!
I am not quite sure what I will get however KTM SMR990 or 950 Super Enduro feature a bit.

I also have a KTM 990 and would regard my Ducati as far more reliable.
Some time ago I swore I would never buy another Italian motorcycle, but am I glad I broke that promise.
