Removal
couple questions for those that have done it.
What is involved with removing the stock handguards? Most of the assembly looks pretty straightforward except for the wiring. Can the turn signal connectors be removed without taking off any body panels or do I have to remove other bits and pieces to get at the connectors?
Passenger pegs. For those that have removed the passenger pegs, have your feet come in contact with the chain? It looks like the probability will be high, especially for riding on the track.

the front turn indicator connectors will be located inside the big black rubber boot (looks like a bell, as is tight to the wires on one end, and big opening on the other end) on either the left or right side of the headstock on the frame.
you can figure which wires/connectors they are by pulling on the wire before it runs down into the neither regions below the dash.
no special unplugging/unhooking on these connectors, just pull.

I removed my mirror//handguard//assembly and sold it for the DP mirrors.
To remove the turn signal, it's 3 bolts on each side to get the turn signal out of the handguard.
Then follow the turn signal wire to that plastic sleeve where all the wires from the front end up. Pull a little bit to see the connector and unconnect. Job done, repeat for the other side.
It should not be more than a 5min job.
Cant help you for the passenger pegs.
Removed mine but didnt get the chance to ride the bike yet. If this is a concern for you, you can always buy some carbon fiber heel guard (Overpriced DP or Shift-Tech)

I have removed the handguards and blinkers with no drama. The issue is replacing the blinkers -- mounting and electronics. There are some threads on this.
I have removed the passenger pegs, no drama from chain, however the exhaust would melt my boots. I ended up getting some carbon fiber guards for this area.

What they said about blinkers.
My pax pegs came off the first day, no problems. For a while now I've been running Woodcraft rearsets, as extreme as they come, including track time. Don't run the RH foot guard but do the LH, no problems with chain. No problems with the exhaust on the RH side with the Termi 2-1, don't know about a stock exhaust.

Time to fly
Thanks for the replies. I am off to Barber in March and I am strongly leaning towards temporary removal of all its road going necessities.
Anyone had their Hyper on Barber or Road Atlanta? I have those two track dates lined up and will probably squeeze a couple more in if the wife won't kill me.
Now, I just need a buyer before I start down the path towards engine mods (cams, fly wheel, stacks) and such.
