Keeping the black anodization from turning purple...
Hey fellow duc lovers. I have found a killer product that I've used for the past months and can rightfully say, really works to protect the anodization from color-shifting:
I used it on all my black pieces (fork tubes, triple clamps, clutch cover, mirror mounts, you name it...) and it has kept the black from going to purple.
How do I know this? Not 'cause I'm smart that's for sure I coated one of my mirror mounts with it and didn't coat the other. The other one is now a nice faded black/purple, the coated one is a 'looks like new black'.
Real easy to apply and can be stripped by 'carefully' using Xylene. I recently stripped and reapplied and will probably do so every 12 months or so.
It can be ordered with a matte, satin or bright finish. I did mine in satin.
No; I don't work for the company, ask Marco. Just thought that it would help a few, I read a thread recently where someone commented on his 'purple' clutch cover.
Enjoy boys!
Chris

That would be my post about the clutch cover.Although it's a little too late for me, this sounds great especially since you have a side by side comparison.
Marco, I can honestly say I have never heard the expression "slurp my butt".I wish that were still the case.
Color shifting? Really........I have never see, or heard of such a thing. I have parts that have been anodized years ago and they still look black as the day I had them done. Is this common?

You can see it here.Black goes purple, red tends to go pink.Although my red hasn't seemed to have that problem, at least not as bad.
I don't know the entire anodizing process but from what I understand, after the color is applied, the part is placed in a seal/sealer bath. Sometimes it's sprayed instead.
Some do a better job of this than others. That's kinda what this ProtectaClear is for.
