Leo Vince claims that their exhaust works fine with the stock ECU. I got a deal on the LV slip ons, already installed cat eliminator, and had Nichols install the pipes. I asked that they dyno the bike after the installation.
The pipes made a significant difference. The bike gained 4hp up to 90. The torque is up approx 2lbs from the bottom to the top.
Engine oil temps are down about 10 degrees. All in all, very pleased. Not convinced the ECU is necessary, at least with the LV setup. The bike definitely pulls harder.
As an aside, I contacted Silverback performance and discussed the ECU. I spoke to Doug there discussing a Hyper he tuned. He reflashd the stock ECU on the bike with a DP map. He indicated that the DP was dumping up to 20% too much fuel at the higher rpm. I believe it was Brainfry's bike. Here is what Brainfry posted.
