may 29-31 wsb races @ miller!!!
hey, not to throw a wrench in the west coast spring 2010 ducati.ms meet event ... but it's wsb racing time @ miller motorsport park, may 29-31.
i plan on making it out there again this year, as last year's event was damn near as much fun as laguna motogp races ... for those of you who have nto attended a wsb race, they are much more fan friendly than motogp races. getting into the paddock area is not much more headache than what ama races used to be (back hen ama races were worth attending).

Is it Hyper-friendly??
Are there any good roads to ride in the area??
These are the things inquiring minds want to know.......
...and yes, you are throwing a wrench in the Westcoast Ducati.ms meet.

ciao dave -
am pretty certain there are some good riding roads up in the mountains surrounding salt lake city. the flatlands look to be pretty unimpressive around salt lake city though. of course, there's always the salt flats .. you can test out how much drag your visored helmet adds @ 130+mph
hey, monkey wrench aside ... miller wsb races are very cool ... i am planning on attending, and have already talked with neil and paul about doing the ride over, or trucking the hypertards over (highway 80 from california eastwards is not so much fun). there is plenty of camping @ miller, and tons of hotels in salt lake city.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Moto GP BUT I hate takin it up the ass for hotel rooms EG: Motel 6 $49.95 per night, except when the Big show comes to town, then it's $249.95 a night ? So ya spend a extra $600 for a 3 night stay......No thanks ,I'll watch it on TV.
WSB when it's in a place like Miller , the City is big enough that there is little or no impact on room charges , due to the race. A $49 room is still $49 so one can keep the extra $600 and spend it on whatever floats their boat, new lid, food & drink, whatever ?
When WSB was at Laguna, the rooms went up by about a hundred bucks over the standard rate, so for a 3 day stay it was aextra $300....dooable, but not happy about it. Now with the moto GP the rooms are anywhere from $200-$400 extra per night .Not acceptable in my mind, and theres no way to get into the pit's and see first hand what happens in the pit's ,it's all top secret.

You just have to know how to shop.
I stayed at the GoodNite Inn in Salinas for only about $350 for 6 nights. I only had to kick 1 prostitute out the whole time. My stay there was excellent and I will plan to stay there again next time.

Dave , I'm not callin ya a liar, but I would bet that if you were to try to get the same room for just 3 of those saame night's (fri, sat, sun) It would be $350. I could be wrong ?

We'll be there as early as Friday evening. If anyone is driving via 80 through Elko and can shuttle my truck to Miller, it would be appreciated.
We will be riding the Adventure bikes from Elko via the Pony Express Trail to Miller. Slabbing on knobbies from Miller back to Elko isn't of much interest. Doable, but I can think of other things I'd rather be doing.
